This Is Love is a Folk/Soft Rock band from Ontario, Canada — built not just to make music, but to make a difference.
Founder Chris began writing music at age 11, using songs to express emotions he couldn't put into words. Over the decades he filled a scrapbook with more than 40 songs — written on napkins, scraps of paper, whatever was nearby — a musical diary stretching from the 80s through the 90s.
For years he played only as a soloist, convinced he couldn't adapt to a band because he played by feeling rather than strict counts. It took hiring session players to prove himself wrong. Once he had the confidence, he posted a call for bandmates on Facebook — and found the right people who shared his belief that music could give something back.
Our motto is Simple Acts of Kindness — a phrase borrowed from a teacher's email signature that became the band's North Star. We believe music is a conduit for healing, education, and community support.
We are 100% self-funded and operate on a philanthropic model. We don't seek personal profit or donations — we use our music to generate streaming revenue that goes directly to causes we care about.
Every stream counts. Every follow matters.
Social media puts enormous pressure on young people today. Kids Help Phone is a critically underfunded resource that helps youth navigate challenges around self-worth and mental health. We want every young person to know it exists.
We support organizations that help individuals with disabilities not just live, but thrive and build independent lives.
Community starts close to home.
Our songs are story-driven Folk/Soft Rock — original works from the 80s and 90s, updated for a full-band sound. Some are introspective. Some are meant to encourage. All of them started as something real.
Our logo features a silhouette holding a glowing guitar pick. Look closely at the pick — inside it is the Kids Help Phone logo. It is our reminder of why we play.
We also use our platform to support the independent music community. Through our curated Spotify playlists — and our free submission platform at SubmitMusic.ca — we help independent artists with the talent but without the marketing resources get heard by real listeners.
Follow us on Spotify, Apple Music, or wherever you stream. Every play supports the causes above — at zero cost to you.
Simple acts of kindness. That is all it takes.
