Verse 1
I got tired of all the drama,
I got tired of all the games,
I got tired of all the excess,
It was time to make a change,
And turn a page in my life,
No more excuses to hold me back,
I know you’ve heard it all before,
Perhaps it was the courage that I lacked
Chorus
It took a reckoning to see what matters,
Tells you a lot about your life,
Then your world gets shattered
A reckoning can cut like a knife
Yes, a reckoning can cut like a knife,
Verse 2
Always taking things for granted,
Is what I did the best,
Always looking at this world,
Like its my own treasure chest,
Forgetting the people around me,
Like no one else exists,
It was all about what I wanted
And I mistaken this for bliss,
Verse 3
Measuring those by their pay cheque,
Fancy cars and where they lived,
Just to get what I wanted,
An agenda, with nothing to give,
It served me for many years,
Never settling for anything less,
Always looking at this world,
Like its my own treasure chest
Sometimes we take things for granted and are blinded by only the things we want. We look at our world as a personal treasure chest. Never considering the impacts of our actions to others. Until, our silver lining breaks. An event or “reckoning” hits us so hard that it makes us see ourselves in the mirror for the very first time. Sometimes it takes a “reckoning” to see what we have become.
